iPhone 5 Features That Didn’t Make it to the 4S
What have we missed out on with the iPhone 4S, well this is a good question. Though in a lot of ways the phone comes with a number of features we would have expected were reserved for an all new device, what have we missed out on? Is it enough to stop you buying an iPhone contract in the UK?
The most obvious thing here is the body of the device. The iPhone 4S still uses the exact same body as the original iPhone 4, this is obviously a disappointment on many levels. We were expecting a new body, one that would come with a tear dropped back or a curved screen or at least a new aluminium back. However, we just got the old iPhone body and some new innards – less than inspiring in some ways.
The other big disappointment came in terms of the screen. We are without the larger screen we though that we would achieve with the iPhone 5. The lack of a larger screen is a disappointment and we also feel a little hard done by. A larger screen would have allowed for better visuals and clearer browsing abilities. This however was obviously not case and we still have the same size of a screen.
The new screen would have also brought with it a new edge or bezel, or in fact no bezel at all. There were expectations that the device would come with a slim or wraparound back that would mean that the phone had a screen right to the edge. This would have made the device look spectacular and really given the deign aspect of the phone a lift. This has not been the case either and we have missed out.
The phone also only comes with 512mb of RAM, which is fine and we have few problems with the amount of short term memory on order. However, we do feel that Apple could have easily upped this to a full 1GB of RAM and kept the phone in line with the larger powered phones in the field. This would have had an effect on the future proofing of the device and meant that it would be even faster than it already is. Then again it is hard to complain when we have a 1GHz dual core chip with a GPU that is 7 times the power of the previous processing unit.
So, though not a lot to be disappointed about, there are some downfalls.
